How to read care symbols and keep your fabrics beautiful wash after wash
Why it matters
Beautiful fabrics deserve proper care
Every fabric we sell comes with care instructions so you can enjoy it for years: washing, bleaching, drying and ironing are all summed up in a handful of small pictograms on the product pages.
On this page you will find the complete meaning of every care symbol, along with simple habits to protect fibres, colours and finishes wash after wash.
Tip: on our product pages, these symbols appear directly in the fabric characteristics — hover over one (or tap it) to see its meaning.
Golden rules
Simple habits that make fabrics last
Read the label first
Before washing, cutting or ironing, check the care symbols on the product page.
Sort before you wash
Wash whites, colours and darks separately, and keep delicate fabrics away from heavy textures and zippers.
When in doubt, wash colder
Lower temperatures protect fibres and colours — and still clean most everyday fabrics perfectly.
Do not overload the machine
Fabrics need room to move. An overstuffed drum creases, rubs and prematurely wears your textiles.
Air dry when you can
Line drying or drying flat is the gentlest option for fibres — and the most ecological.
Iron at the right temperature
Match the iron to the symbol and use a pressing cloth on delicate/printed fabrics.

The tips below are general guidance for each fibre family. Weaves, finishes and blends vary from one fabric to the next, so the care instructions given on each fabric page always take precedence — they are written for the exact fabric you have chosen.
Cotton
Sturdy and forgiving: wash warm, tumble dry at moderate heat and iron at high temperature for a crisp finish.

The washtub
Washing
The washtub tells you if, and how, the fabric can be washed. A hand in the tub means hand wash only, a cross means do not wash, and bars underneath call for gentler agitation.

The triangle
Bleaching
The triangle is all about bleach. An empty triangle allows bleach when needed, two diagonal lines inside mean non-chlorine bleach only, and a crossed triangle forbids bleach altogether.

The square
Drying
The square covers drying after washing. A circle inside means tumble drying — the dots set the heat — while the lines inside mean natural drying: on a line, drip dry or flat.

The twisted shape
Wringing
A crossed-out twist means the fabric must not be wrung by hand: press the water out gently or roll the fabric in a towel instead.

The iron
Ironing
The iron gives the maximum soleplate temperature: one dot for low, two for medium, three for high. Crossed lines under the iron mean iron without steam.

The circle
Dry cleaning
The circle refers to professional textile care. Letters inside give the allowed solvents — P for perchloroethylene, F for petroleum — and bars call for a gentler treatment. A cross means no dry cleaning.
